During an onsite meeting with Mowi Folkestad, we had the pleasure to see the great facility on the western coast of Norway, producing an impressive amount of market size salmon every year.
The meeting came up after talking to the proud site manager and foreman on the location inviting us to see the premises and equipment as well as the impressive farming facilities.
To make a long story short, there are always changes that can be done to improve the working conditions but at the same time not compromizing the fish health and fish welfare
Challenge
Norwegian Food authorities is a controlling mechanism for securing fish welfare and also that the food delivered to the market is outstanding quality.
One of the routines to check this is a regular inspection of salmon, carried out by dissection of a number of salmons on board a service vessel. Cutting up the salmon requires equipment for collecting the waste safely, but also require steady table with proper height for the veterinarian. the last requirement; can you make this for mobilization/demobilization to use only when required?
Solution
Sure. From our seafood processing solutions on board trawlers, it is normal to have tables for inspection and quality control of the catch, build also to collect the waste and secure HSE. We combined this product with the requirements from the local fish farmer.
The result: the Bjørdal Veterinarian inspection table.
“The Bjørdal Veterinarian inspection table met all our requirements”
